Rounds ... what are they ? A "Round" is the term given to a number of arrows shot at different distances. Here is a brief list of some rounds we are likely to shoot at the club or in local competitions. You will find that they fall into 2 classes ... Metric and Imperial. Metric rounds have distances in metres and are shot under International rules set by FITA . The imperial rounds are in yards under rules laid down by the UK governing body,  Archery GB / Grand National Archery Society (GNAS).

Club records. Due to the long standing records folder going AWOL a few years ago not all scores have a correct date or venue listed. Some of the scores may have been beaten at sometime since and they were taken from a "pocket" list compiled around 1990.

Classification. There are certain score levels to reach for different rounds to give you a "class". Outdoors you have from the top down you have Grand Master Bowman (GMB) Master Bowman (MB), Bowman, 1st Class, 2nd Class and 3rd Class. For 3rd up to Bowman you have to beat the score set for each class 3 times. We have listed the most common rounds and for a more detailed list for other rounds look in your rule book. Indoor classifications. Different system with the ranking being designated by a letter.... here is a pdf version.

Quick note about handicap Shoots

1.     Handicap Allowances for the round shot by each archer are given in the linked file below. No further adjustment is necessary for mixed shoots.

2.     The allowance should be added to the actual score achieved to give the handicap adjusted score.

3.     The allowances have been calculated so that any archer shooting exactly to his current handicap will achieve an adjusted score of 1440 on any round.
